Damon Smith is a NYC-based pianist, songwriter, and improviser. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he kicked off his career performing and touring with Jon Anderson of Yes, members from Frank Zappa's band, and Andrew W.K. From there, Damon hit the road as a pianist with acts like T.3 and Burlap to Cashmere, while also bringing his original sound to iconic spots like Highline Ballroom, Joe’s Pub, CBGB’s, and Webster Hall. He’s shared the stage at major festivals like Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and more. In 2017, he dropped his debut solo album Intimate Machinery after graduating from the New England Conservatory. His follow-up album God of the Grid arrived in 2019, earning praise from NPR’s Here and Now, who said they were “excited for what he has next.” These days, Damon’s making a record with his band, The Brightmares, which he formed with his brother Brendan Jacob Smith. Their debut album When The World Gets Fixed dropped in 2022.
